irc galleria curation information

 IRC Galleria is interesting to me as a tool because I am very interested in archives / informational displays as art pieces. I also just really love/ am inspired by early 2000's internet presences and web design. 

The instagram account @triple_reed is what I use to put together images that I find on IRC Galleria with images that I find elsewhere, for example the MET Medieval Arms and Armour archive, the MET Costume archive, various memes, photos of myself and my friends, fashion, etc. Most posts are carousel posts and are meant to be a set together. I have many saved on my computer and am slowly working through everything to make a coherent collection. 

I think access to vast archives of photos is something of archaeological importance! Most of the time when I am looking at IRC Galleria I leave looking at it with more questions about the lives of the people that I am looking at than actual photos. I know nothing about the actual people in any of the photos, but can make very educated guesses on what kinds of people they were, how they spent their time ect. based on the information that their digital footprint gives me. With instagram or other current social media, most open accounts are used as a front for what the person who owns it wants to be perceived like, not necessarily what their actual thoughts/goings on are. I use instagram for this project currently because I have not yet designed a website to my liking or have found something as accessible or user friendly for easy compilation but am planning that in the future . ( maybe in this class B+) )
